Low Country Aerospace in Savannah, GA is looking for a CNC Conventional Machinist / Fabrication Technician. This person is responsible for setting up, running, and maintaining Laser CNC machines and perform post processing operations such as deburr, adjust, and otherwise aid in finish work related to complicated aerospace fabrications in a production environment. Responsible for part integrity and quality of parts manufactured per established procedures.
• 2 years of hands on machining experience (preferably in the aerospace industry) or equivalent education required. • Ability to multi-task. • Willingness to cross train into disciplines outside of this job description. • Background of lean manufacturing techniques a plus. • Proficiency with industrial lasers used in drilling, cutting and welding and working knowledge of ANSI Z136.1 a plus.
• Working knowledge of blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters. Ability to interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
• Understanding and experience with close tolerance machining and using precise measuring tools.
• Operates CNC machinery by entering data, including zero and reference points; setting tool offsets, and axis compensation.
• Sets-up CNC machinery by installing and adjusting part holding tools, attachments, collets bushings, cams, gears, stops, stock pushers, indicating vices, and tramming heads.
• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample work pieces.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling, thread chasing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, and replacing worn tools, and adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Ability to work with hands using pneumatic and conventional hand tools.• Duties to include (but not limited to) hand adjustment of sheet metal fabrications, various deburr operations, and inspection of components using various standard inspection tools.
• Ability to translate inspection results into actions required to adjust parts within specifications.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; alerting proper associates for repairs.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing MES (Manufacturing Execution System) and quality logs.• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to product and processes.
